When a tooth experiences decay to the point that the pulp, the inside of the tooth, is infected, it can cause quite a bit of discomfort. Rather than removing the entire tooth, a root canal cleans out the inflamed pulp and leaves your tooth strong and intact.
We’ll drill a small hole into the surface of the affected tooth and thoroughly clean the inside of the canal. Thankfully for adult teeth, the pulp is not essential to the survival of the tooth, and can be removed without harming the tooth. At the end of the procedure, the tooth is sealed to prevent any further decay.
